Soccer

Soccer, known as football in most countries outside North America, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net using any part of the body except the arms and hands (goalkeepers are the exception, as they can use their hands within their penalty area). Matches are typically played on a rectangular field with a goal at each end, and they are governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game. The sport is widely recognized for its emphasis on skill, strategy, and teamwork, making it one of the most popular and played sports globally. Soccer is organized at various levels, from amateur leagues to professional divisions, and it culminates in prestigious international tournaments, such as the FIFA World Cup.
