Serie A

Serie A is the top professional football (soccer) league in Italy. Established in 1898, it represents the highest level of competition in the Italian football league system. Serie A consists of 20 teams that compete against each other in a round-robin format, where each team plays the others twice, once at home and once away.

The league operates on a promotion and relegation system with Serie B, the second tier of Italian football. Clubs earn points based on their match results, with three points awarded for a win, one point for a draw, and none for a loss. At the end of each season, the team with the most points is crowned the Serie A champion.

Serie A is known for its tactical and defensive style of play, and it has produced many of the world’s top football players and clubs, such as Juventus, AC Milan, and Inter Milan. The league has a rich history and has been home to significant footballing traditions and rivalries. It is part of the larger Italian Football Federation (FIGC) and has a significant following both domestically and internationally.
